"Our main products can be divided into two directions: high strength and low shrinkage polypropylene industrial filaments and fine and ultra-fine polypropylene filaments." Guo Qinghai introduced.
High strength and low shrinkage polypropylene industrial silk, as the name suggests, that is, at the same time in line with the two major performance of high strength and low shrinkage, can not be pulled off by manpower alone, mainly used in industrial filter cloth, geotextile, cable sling, brand-name bags and so on; Fine denier and ultra-fine denier polypropylene filament is characterized by "fine", and there are as many as 72-96 monofilaments in a bunch of silk, each small filament is hollow, and can be used in food, medicine filtration and clothing and other fields.
"In the past three years, we have invested a total of 45 million yuan in research and development, making continuous breakthroughs in high-strength industrial silk and ultra-fine denier silk, and making the category wider and the technology deeper from two directions." "For example, we have successfully developed the technology to use ultra-fine denier polypropylene for the diaphragm of lithium batteries by taking advantage of its lightweight, acid-resistant and alkali-resistant properties," Guo said.
Guo Qinghai picked up a translucent film paper, it is difficult to imagine that this thin, light film seems to be without a little weight, but it is one of the core components of the highest technical barriers in lithium battery materials.
"Inside a lithium battery, charged ions flow between the positive and negative electrodes, so an electric current is formed. The diaphragm sits between the positive and negative electrodes, preventing direct contact between the positive and negative electrodes and ensuring that the ions can pass smoothly." Guo Qinghai said, "The main function of the lithium battery diaphragm is to isolate the electrodes to prevent short circuits and safety failures. The performance of the diaphragm directly affects the safety, cycle life and power of the lithium battery."
Public data show that due to the existing domestic diaphragm still has a large technical weakness, most of China's diaphragm market is still occupied by foreign brands, and high-end products can only rely on imports.
And the use of microfibers for battery membranes, Montai achieved the key technology of the first - the use of nanoscale polypropylene wire deposition film, so that the thickness of the diaphragm is only 1/500 of the hair, high strength, porosity and uniform, can greatly improve the battery life.
At present, Montai has mastered and holds several patented diaphragm technologies, and is actively in trial production, once mass production will inject new impetus to promote the domestic replacement process of lithium battery diaphragm.
More than diaphragm patents, in recent years, Montai Technology research and development projects into more than 40 new technologies, processes, products, led the drafting of 3 industry standards, with 17 authorized invention patents, international PCT invention patents 4, becoming the first national intellectual property demonstration enterprise in Jieyang City.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the domestic polypropylene industry was just starting. Guo Qinghai graduated from the chemical fiber major of China Textile University (now Donghua University) and joined the chemical enterprise in Zhongshan, engaged in research and development and production.
In 1992, Jieyang city, Jiedong county. In 1993, Guo Qinghai decided to return to his hometown to start his own business. With the resources accumulated in his study and work, he quickly formed a technical team, returned to Jiedong, and established the predecessor of Mengtai, "Yuehai Chemical Fiber".
"At that time, the country didn't even have the special equipment to produce polypropylene." "Mr. Kwok recalled.
You can only rely on yourself. The equipment is designed by itself, the masterbatch is developed by itself, and even the oil agent is prepared by itself. Guo Qinghai with the technical team, hit a hard bone, and finally let the polypropylene production line of Yuehai chemical fiber turn up.
Twenty years in the blink of an eye. In 2012, Jiedong county was changed into a district. The following year, Yuehai Chemical Fiber changed its name to Mengtai. In 2015, through the comprehensive upgrading of traditional production equipment, Montai transformed the polypropylene production process from a "two-step method" to a "one-step method", took the lead in completing the technology iteration, greatly saving labor costs and improving production capacity, and since then, Montai has established a leading position in the polypropylene industry. Today, the annual output of Montai polypropylene has exceeded 30,000 tons, and the output value has exceeded 1.2 billion yuan in the past three years.
In 2020, Montai was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange as one of the first 18 enterprises under the GEM registration system, and became the "first share" of China's polypropylene filament. In 2021, Montai was included in the third batch of specialized new "Little giants" list published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The district government actively helps to apply for various support funds, so that Montai can increase research and development investment and enhance market competitiveness. In recent years, Montai has enjoyed a number of policy support funds such as technological transformation, loan discount, innovation and development, and listing financing awards and subsidies, totaling 34.52 million yuan.
The more important support is talent. In recent years, through the talent introduction program, Jiedong District has set up a bridge for Montai and introduced three experts.
Layout of the new track
Build a complementary and interconnected industrial chain
Montai is a subdivision leader in the polypropylene industry, and has an important position in the manufacturing industry of Jiedong and even Jieyang, and has been deeply embedded in the industrial chain of Jiedong District and Jieyang City.
The economic development zone of Mengtai is located in the east of Jiedong District. Together with Sino-German Metal Eco-City and Jieyang Industrial Transfer Park, it has become the three major positions of Jiedong manufacturing industry.
Looking to the south, Jieyang Dananhai Petrochemical Industrial Zone anchors a trillion green petrochemical industry cluster. Since last year, petrochina Guangdong Petrochemical refining and Chemical Integration Project and Jilin Petrochemical (Jieyang) 600,000-ton/year ABS project have been put into operation in Jieyang Dananhai Petrochemical Industrial Zone, accelerating the formation of two trillion value industrial clusters of Jieyang Green petrochemical and offshore wind power.
As a chemical fiber manufacturing enterprise, Montai is located in the middle reaches of the chemical industry chain, upstream to undertake petrochemical industry, and downstream to cover textile, building materials, automobiles and other manufacturing industries. The raw material for the production of polypropylene filament is polypropylene, mainly from petroleum refining plants. The production of Guangdong Petrochemical refining and Chemical integration Project and Jilin Petrochemical ABS project will provide cost-effective polypropylene raw materials for Montai to achieve localized support.
Standing in the tuyere of a new round of development, Montai is accelerating its integration into the industrial layout of Jiedong and Jieyang.
In Jiedong District, the 730 million yuan raised by Montai for the first time will be used to invest in Jiedong District, and nearly 500 million yuan has been invested in the past three years, mainly for the main business expansion and research and development center projects. At present, Mengtai has built a new factory in Jiedong Economic Development Zone, covering an area of 80 acres. The new plant has been installed and will be put into production this year.
In Jieyang Danhai Petrochemical Industrial Zone, Montai launched the Nata carbon fiber project last year, with a planned total investment of 4.794 billion yuan, with an annual output of 10,000 tons of carbon fiber and 60,000 tons of differentiated acrylic fiber.
Carbon fiber is equivalent to the upgraded version of polypropylene, its weight is lighter, higher strength, can play a good role in weight reduction, is an ideal lightweight material. In the new energy industry, wind power blades, photovoltaic carrier panels, new energy auto parts and so on are inseparable from carbon fiber. After the Nata carbon fiber project is put into operation, it will fill the gap of carbon fiber production in South China at one stroke, which is of great significance to the development of new materials industry in our province.
Enhance competitiveness
Be both down-to-earth and adventurous
Since its founding in 1993, Montai has gone through 30 years of spring and autumn, and has accumulated rich experience and industry process technology precipitation in the field of polypropylene fiber. Guo Qinghai believes that step by step to today, Montai and the development history of China's entire polypropylene industry is closely related, but also with the development of China's economy, the continuous improvement of people's living standards and the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure and development and growth.
In the view of Guo Qinghai, the development of enterprises must be both down-to-earth and dare to try.
